Program Mission
The Arizona Master Naturalist Association’s mission is to create a place-based corps of dedicated, knowledgeable individuals who provide education, stewardship, and citizen science services to stakeholders in the State of Arizona.
Program Description (include how it meets membership criteria)
60 hours of classroom training, 60 hours of annual volunteer service, 20 annual hours of continuing education/advanced training.
Program Partners
Pima County Conservation and Natural Resources, Maricopa County Parks and Recreation, Arizona State University, Highlands Center for Natural History
Curriculum (general objectives and topics, types of instructors, and planned time frame)
5 months of natural resource training, including introduction to MN, intro to natural history of region, geology, botany, fauna, wildlife corridors, ethnobotany and cultural history, native cultures, invasive species, naturalist skills (including interpretation, keys and field guides, risk management, observation, etc.).
Describe the service component of your program
Partner agencies provide job descriptions for volunteer service in one of the three categories: citizen science, education/interpretation, stewardship. Volunteers select one or more based upon their interests.
