Program Mission
The mission of the Wyoming Naturalist Program is to cultivate a community of volunteers to steward the state's natural resources through conservation education and service.
Program Description (include how it meets membership criteria)
The program provides education and training to participants in biodiversity, ecology, conservation, management and interpretation, so that they can become leaders in the effort to protect our natural resources and the special places where we live.
Program Partners
The Wyoming Naturalist Program is coordinated by a committee of state agencies and non-profits that includes Audubon Rockies, Wyoming Game and Fish Department, Wyoming State Parks, the University of Wyoming Biodiversity Institute, and University of Wyoming Extension.

The Program partners with many more federal, state and local agencies and NGOs to enhance trainings and bring a diversity of service opportunities to our participants.
Curriculum (general objectives and topics, types of instructors, and planned time frame)
Naturalists-in-training will receive on-line instruction on natural history topics including botany, entomology, herpetology, and ecology of terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems of Wyoming, as well as nature journaling, and outdoor education and interpretation. Classes will be taught by professionals from Audubon Rockies, University of Wyoming and elsewhere.

Classes meet on Wednesday evenings, over 15 weeks, for 1 3/4 hour each.
Describe the service component of your program
Wyoming Naturalists put their skills and time to work, making a difference for plants, animals and habitats in Wyoming. To achieve and maintain certification, Wyoming Naturalists are required to contribute 40 hours of service each year, but many Naturalists do more. To qualify, the service must be unpaid, organized by an agency or non-profit NGO, and have a direct or indirect impact on Wyoming wildlife or wildlands. Service must fall into one of four categories: stewardship, education and outreach, community science, or Wyoming Naturalist Program support
